New Orleans, LA (February 26, 2007) – Emdeon Business Services today announced its novel multi-payer electronic payment and remittance solution.  Emdeon’s electronic payment and remittance solution combines innovative products from Emdeon with its broad health payer and provider connectivity to provide a complete, multi-payer solution that providers can adopt across their enterprise.

Today the vast majority of payments and remittance advice statements are delivered to healthcare providers on paper resulting in substantial materials, postage and call center expense to the payer.  Similarly, providers lack a solution that addresses all of their needs consistently across all their payers and therefore continue to utilize the postal service for payment processing. 

Providers and payers have been slow to adopt electronic payment and remittance solutions due to the absence of multi-payer solutions that address the majority of providers’ needs and the absence of workflow tools that provide consistency across disparate payer formats and enable providers to easily receive, post and reconcile their accounts.

For providers, Emdeon’s solution will improve office efficiency and simplify the payment and reconciliation process.  Emdeon’s electronic payment and remittance solution allows providers to search, view, and print remittance data through Emdeon’s web-based Payment Manager, automate payment posting, enhance denial management, access self-service tools for payer enrollment, and provide online patient billing and payment options. 

For payers, Emdeon’s solution will lower costs significantly, improve accuracy and enhance provider and member satisfaction.
