NATIONAL PROVIDER IDENTIFIER UPDATE FOR EMDEON DENTAL PROVIDERS

Emdeon Business Services is ready to accept the National Provider Identifier (NPI) for all payers. Emdeon is diligently working with our payer and vendor partners to facilitate the coordination and submission of the NPI.  Please note that some practice management systems may have the capability of including the NPI while others are still in development.  If you have questions about your practice management software's capability, please contact them directly.

To ensure the NPI is handled properly during this transitional period, Emdeon can store NPI numbers on your behalf. The stored NPI numbers will be referenced and used on your claim and sent to any payers ready to receive it.  Your cooperation in the NPI collection process is vital.

Also please note that legacy identifiers (i.e. Tax ID and any applicable payer assigned identifiers) must still be provided on submitted claims.
